MEAT

All of our livestock are allowed to pasture on open grass and fields, then sheltered at night and during inclement weather.

Chicken

We currently have chicken, both whole broilers and pre-cut fryer type complete chickens for sale year round.  

Price is $4.00/pound - sizes range from 1.5 - 5 pounds.

Turkey

We continually take orders for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys.  Order early to ensure your turkey for the holidays.  A $25.00 deposit is required to reserve your turkey.

Price is $4.00/pound - sizes range from 9 - 25 pounds.

Beef

Starting Summer 2012, we will have beef for sale. Primarily hamburger, beef sticks as well as steaks and roasts.  Our cattle are pastured/grass-fed, with the exception of just a handful of grain each morning as a treat for them and used as a control measure for our handling. (Gets them used to being fed by a human each morning and if they ever were to get out of their pasture...all we would need to do is shake a bucket of corn and they would run right back in to us).  

Prices will vary based on cut and product selection, but we should have beef year round!

We will also continually take orders for quarter, half or whole beef.  Our current price is $3.99/lb hanging weight.  A $100.00 deposit is required to reserve your quarter, half or whole beef order.

Here is an example for figuring your costs for a quarter beef.  

We typically take our cattle in for processing around 800 pounds live weight.  That typically results in a hanging weight of about 480 pounds, so if you would want a "quarter beef" that would be about 120 pounds x $3.99/lb =  $478.80.  The only other cost you would incur would be your processing cost at the butcher...typically around $100 for a quarter beef (that cost varies based on what all you want done to your beef and how you want it packaged).  So as a result you would get over 100 pounds of local, top quality beef for less than $6.00/lb.  That includes hamburger, beef sticks, jerky, fillet mignon, top sirloin, roasts, everything......all for less than $6.00/lb!

Pork

Pork will be available late fall 2012.  We will take orders for whole or half hogs beginning in June 2012.

Here are some advantages of buying in bulk:

• Your supporting local businesses — Self explanatory....supporting the farmer, their local suppliers, the meat packer, etc.
• Better quality meat — Local sourced meat is generally aged 14-21 days, whereas grocery-store meat is typically aged 5-7 days. 
• Meat is packed for freezing — When you pick up your order from the meat packer it is already ready for your freezer...when you buy at the grocery store you will need to repack it to freeze it.
• More uniform product — Commercial ground beef can be made using meat from several animals, however ground beef from a local source is produced from a single animal, minimizing the risk of contamination.
• Known costs — By buying all at once, you in essence secure your price to hedge against future price increases.
• Fewer trips to the grocery store — Self explanatory.
• Better prices — When you buy in bulk you are getting prime cuts of beef for lower costs...often times close to the same price as ground beef.
